Mystery graph – what is the data?
September 8, 2008
Okay … here’s a graph of data I collected. The axes aren’t labeled (as you can see).
What’s your guess?
UPDATE (9/9/08): Silver Fox wins (RCfon gets credit for guessing price of oil, which helped) — the above graph shows gasoline prices in the San Francisco Bay Area from May 2007 until now.

Time vs. Time Gone By? ;)
Not sure really. Just a random guess: Size of Sediments (Phi) vs. Distance from Source?

I would have said daily rainfall in this British summer, but the graph is going downwards at the end, not upwards!
I’d guess bedding thickness vs. time or vs. distance.
Time required to drink beer vs lateness of hour.
nope … but, I love the creativity so far
McCain’s popularity over time, showing the recent surge after his Palin announcement, and the more recent drop as reality sets in.
ha! Silver Fox … I like that one … as a clue, the x-axis is indeed time (present on right side)
Price of Oil x Time
RCfon … no, but you are very close … what I’m showing here probably mimics the price of crude oil very closely
Ah, then it would have to be the price of gasoline at the pump? But which locality?
Silver Fox … yep, that’s right … these are from my own records from various gas stations around the SF Bay Area starting around May 2007
