Nov 2008 — If you found yourself here searching for images of the November 2008 wildfires in the Santa Barbara area, check out these maps.

I just saw this image over at and had to post it (original source from Earth Observatory website).

There are literally hundreds of fires burning at once. Although there are no fires directly threatening where I live, we woke up smelling smoke this morning.

    Back in my country, I used to throw my goats in the fire. These pictures kinda remind me of home.

    We’ve been getting haze from these fires out Ely way. Hope they are getting them under control.

    My little town of Firebaugh is drenched in smoke from the fires is monterrey and santa cruz area
