Get devolutionized
November 30, 2007
I received this image through the grapevine … it is a scan out of a local newspaper. The event has already passed, but that doesn’t really matter, it is one out of numerous of such events.
What really bothers me is the “how to fight the culture wars” bit. It’s not about evolution or science at all…it’s just a platform to emotionalize people and coax them onto their “side” of the “war”.
How sad…how very sad.

Most disturbing of all is the fact it seems to be focussed on schoolchildren. “Here’s my easy, 5 step plan to disrupt your biology classes so that no-one learns anything at all”…
This is a constant theme. It has nothing to do with examining evidence. It has nothing to do with defending a hypothesis. It has everything to do with holding on to ‘revealed truth.’ A few weeks ago I did a guest essay for atheist revolution (www.atheistrevolution.blogspot.com and you’ll need to click down through the archives to find it) called “Fear of an Idea.” Basically, christianist teaching says that only those who believe EXACTLY the right way will be saved. Why risk your eternal salvation by exposing your mind to new ideas?
