Slacker! How can you do geology while away from a computer?
[From the KOA in Cortez, CO] It looks cratonal & glaciated(?) to me. Kind of like the Superior Province near Sudbury, Ont. or in the Algoma Province, but I just can’t find a spot where the structural grain & jointing are properly oriented. It’s also very curious that the rivers are white/light in color rather than blue. After a half hour (at least) without success I’m going to have to get back to field camp stuff. It’s a good one, Brian, so don’t make the hints too easy.

Like Ron, I checked out the Canadian craton, mostly looking just south of the Arctic coastline and around the Slave provence. I found some white rivers with blue lakes, but nothing that matched up.
I also checked the Tibet plateau, but that looked pretty different, with lots of snowy mountains.
I checked Canada for hours the other night too, and ended up gravitating to the Arctic (for the white river), but no luck either :@

I too searched the Canadian arctic….then thought I should do some work. Now that I knoew we are on the right track, I will try again.
Ron – KOA has wireless?!?!? What kind of camping is that!
Yeah, KOA and plenty of other campgrounds have wifi, but not the national parks, in my experience.

I looked at Baffin, but only at the western half.
Some of it is shield, there are kimberlites and paleogene flood basalts on another part- the East, I think. There may be paleozoic mobile belts up north.
That’s all I know.
Is it the Amazon?
