This week’s Friday Field Foto is of some nice wind ripples on a beach in Kaua’i.

That’s it … that’s all I got today.

Happy Friday!

I love ripples either fossil or modern. I went to take ripple pics earlier this week and they were wonderful. And I also simulated debris flows over a sand dune!

The beach is an endless source of fine photos and natural beauty.

Very cool. I don’t think I’ll ever look at sand the same way again. When I’m at the beach I tend to focus more on the water and the rocks, not as much on the sand. This photo is definitely going to change that.

You should try taking a handlens to the beach and identify the different sand grains. I once spent hours doing that. There is a lot more than just quartz grains to be found.

Yeah, in fact, the lighter-colored sand grains here (Hawaii) are mostly pieces of coral, shells, etc.

I’ve been to Kauai, but didn’t look at the sand so closely while there. This is pretty.
