Congratulations President-Elect Barack Obama!
As I write this (10pm CA time on election night) Obama flipped seven states from red to blue compared to the 2004 election … and he could potentially get another three (North Carolina, Indiana, and Montana) before the night is over. Perhaps not a ‘landslide’, but certainly a decisive victory. A relatively large margin of victory across many states also helped calm my nerves about the voting problems being reported about throughout the day.
This is truly a historic moment — I am excited! If you watched President-Elect Obama’s victory speech you saw a reserved and even solemn person talk about how much work there is to do. He is quite right … this was really just the first step.
There is a lot work to do — and I am more excited than I’ve been in a long time to help contribute to getting that work done.
John McCain’s concession speech was gracious and seemed like the McCain I remember. He should have run his campaign the way he wanted to … I could be wrong, but I get the feeling that he regrets hiring the Rove-Bush slimeballs to run his campaign. Well, tough beans — you did — and you’re going to have to live with it.

My favorite line from his victory speech was “This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change.”
Dear President-elect Obama,
I didn’t vote for you, but you are My President-elect and I pray that you will be the best President this country has ever seen. I was blessed with having had the pleasure of being a teacher in New York City for 37 years. Now, as I enter the “Youthful years of Old Age,”
I feel the excitement of the younger generation for your victory and the desire to see this country pull together for the benefit of “All the People.”
Furthermore, I pray that God will watch over and protect you and your family. I’m excited that the United States stands out significantly, the most progressive Country among the many nations of our world.
The hope of the younger generation rests on your shoulders, I pray it’s not a burden, but rather a gift that easies your walk into history.
If he were here today, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., would certainly be pleased that his “Dream” is closer to reality, Thanks to your election to the highest office in this country.
PEACE, LOVE & JOY!
