I was wondering about that island in the upper left corner of the image too…it doesn’t look like a purely depositional feature (e.g., barrier island)…maybe it is a reef, like Katie mentioned? Or, some other erosional remnant of the underlying geological situation?

I have no idea….I wish I had the time to find out now!

The weird rock-thing (it is early here) sticking out and making that strange pocket beach sort of thing…with a spit on the back side. But there is what looks like extensive reef here.
Do you know anything more about this area??

I did a quick look at all other sheltered N/S coastlines — then decided I really should do some of the work I am being paid to do.
